Cleanrooms:
The construction of a cleanroom involves the creation of an environment that controls airborne particles as well as the humidity, air pressure and temperature as a necessity. The cleanliness of a clean room is measured using ISO or Graded classification. A cleanroom must be designed, built, and operated in accordance with ISO 14644-1 classification of cleanliness. ISO 1 is ranked as the cleanliness through to ISO 9 . Other classification used in European Pharmaceutical Industry are Graded A to D with A being the cleanest, for sterile operations through to D for packing and support operations. As part of the construction of a cleanroom a Validation process needs to be undertaken which includes the provision of professionally qualified and experienced engineers to validate and service a wide range of cleanroom environments and devices to ISO 14644-1:2015 and cGMP. These include filter integrity testing, sampling of airborne particles, airflows, HEAP filter inspections, AHU filters, etc. It is essential for any cleanroom suite to be correctly tested upon initial set up OQ/PQ stages (Operational and performance Qualifications) and then routinely qualified throughout its lifespan to ensure continual compliance ensuring the cleanroom facility is continually complying to the current regulatory standards.
